OIL COMPANIES POSTING RECORD PROFITS

The New York Times reports that oil companies are seeing amazing profits:
  • Exxon Mobil, the world's largest oil company, said yesterday that its third-quarter net income jumped 75 percent, to $9.92 billion. Its profit in the first nine months of this year - $25.42 billion - already equals its full-year earnings for 2004. This year's sales, which topped $100 billion in the last quarter, are expected to exceed those of Wal-Mart.

They could at least make sure that the receipt printers are filled with paper and ink when you pay at the pump. That's the least they could do. The most they could do? Lower the prices. But that wouldn't fit in with their inflated sense of entitlement and lack of compassion for their fellow citizens.
