NOW I'VE SEEN IT ALL

Kerry Wood came back and pitched today for the Cubs. He gave up 3 homers.

But the real story is what just occurred moments ago in the 9th inning. The Cubs had men on 1st & 3rd with 2 outs down 5-3 to the Nats. The batter was Neifi Perez. Perez had a 1-0 count when the Nats had a conference on the mound.

As play resumed, Perez bunted--yes bunted--the next pitch right back to Nats' pitcher Chad Cordero, who easily threw Perez out. Game over, Cubs lose.

Why in the world would you bunt when you are down by 2 with 2 outs in the ninth and you are ahead in the count? Every other at-bat Perez is swinging away at almost anything and now he decides to try and get crafty with a bunt? Has he any baseball IQ?

Just absolutely ridiculous. Cubs leave 9 men on base.

Wow, I don't know what to say, Zoner. What a lame-brained thing to do. How can a Major League player be that clueless?

Simple, Tim, look at the logo on his uniform...

In all seriousness, Zoner, I don't know how you do it.

I would boycott them the rest of the year, otherwise you will soon be singing:

Gloom, despair, and agony on me.
Deep, dark depression...excessive misery.
If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all...etc.
