OLYMPICS GET A MAJOR BEATDOWN

Further proof that not many people care about the Olympics, or that they would rather watch Jerry Rice do the Fox Trot: The ratings for Sunday's closing ceremonies were terrible.

In the vaunted 18-49 demo, the numbers for Sunday look like this: ABC 7.8/18, NBC 3.5/8, Fox 3.3/7, CBS 3.2/7. The 1st number is rating, the percentage of total households tuned to that show. The second is share, which signifies percentage of households using television that are watching that show.

Overall for the evening NBC did a 8.5/13. ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" crushed the Olympics, as did "Grey's Anatomy", which more than doubled the final hour of the closing ceremonies. The Olympics couldn't beat CBS' "Cold Case" (9.0) and barely beat a rerun of "The Simpsons".

I found the games boring. I've no desire to watch ice skating, or most of the other sports for that matter. This may be odd because I was glued to the set for the last Summer Games, which I found absolutely enthralling. Looks as if I'm not alone.

I'm not a huge fan of any of the winter Olympic sports, but I enjoy watching for the nostalgia and uniqueness since it's every four years. I think I cling to my childhood a bit too much during the Olympics, but that's just me. I did, however, watch the closing ceremonies, but that's just because I don't watch most of the other mundane crap on TV on Sundays (Simpsons and Family Guy excluded!). I think the other reason I watched some of the Olympics this year, though, is the fact that I now have HD and I'd watch Olympic lawn mowing in HD...just because. :)

" I think I cling to my childhood a bit too much during the Olympics" Well not just the Olympics, but that's a whole other topic for therapy for ya.

For some people like yourself Lea, they were everything people hoped they would be. I just couldn't get into it.

I'm mostly glad Scrubs is back!
