ZONER'S MONDAY MORSELS

The Bears. Da Bears. They made Delhomme look like Chad Hutchinson yesterday. 7-3, 6 straight wins. On to the morsels...

  • How good is the Bears defense? The Panthers had allowed only 12 sacks going into yesterday's game. The Bears sacked Delhomme 8 times yesterday. Maybe the right question is how good is Ron Rivera? If there is a Def. Coord. of the Year award, start engraving it now.

  • The Knicks continue to help the Bulls. Michael Sweetney has been awesome. His line last night in the 96-93 Bulls win at Staples Center: 20 pts, 12 reb, 3 asst, 2 stl, 3 blk. His numbers are much better than Eddy Curry's. Eddy is being...Eddy. He's played only 23 minutes in the last 2 games. He even sat the entire fourth quarter earlier in the season against Golden State. He's averaging 23 minutes per game. Great move by Pax.

  • Cubs fans have reason to hope with the results from the Arizona Fall League. Angel Guzman was impressive striking out 28 in 30 IP and starting 7 games. Eric Patterson hit over .300. Matt Murton continued to play well. He hit .337/.396/.511. He better be batting 2nd next year.

  • My DePaul Blue Demons started out poorly. Bradley whooped them 75-60 on Saturday. DePaul had 14 turnovers in the first half and finished with 23. Yikes. The loss snapped a 17-game winning streak for the Blue Demons in home openers. Wait until we get the Big East conference games going.

  • A.J. Burnett may be the prize free agent starter out there, but an ESPN.com poll showed that 72% of the respondents think signing him to a long-term deal is a bad move. Us fans know a thing or two about a thing or two.

  • And finally, I have no idea whether or not these are real, but they are funny nonetheless. Check out "Letters to Walken"

Rivera has done a great job of taking the talent there and coming up with the right schemes to make this defense dominant
